Exciting Updates!

We held Tire Amnesty Days from June 22 – June 24 and saw an amazing 23,743 tires collected! That almost doubles what was collected in 2020! Thank you to everyone that participated! Those tires will now be properly disposed of.

For our recent Rockcastle River-Sweep, held on August 19, we had 15 volunteers that collected 25 bags of trash and 38 tires, in four hours! Thank you to all 15 volunteers: Greg Poynter, Mark Isaac’s, Dustin Sizemore, Howell Holbrook Jr, Brandon Gross, Robbin Stewart,  Rick Brummett, Steven F., Scottie H., Alex N., Jeremy M., Dennis D. Josh E., Dalton S., and myself (James Renner).

Free Tire Collection Days

This event is open to Rockcastle County residents only, NO businesses!  Identification and sign in at the gate will be required. Please bring all accepted tires to the State Highway Garage, located at Highway 2224, Mt. Vernon, KY 40456.

June 22, 2023 from 8am – 6pm

June 23, 2023 from 8am – 6pm

June 24, 2023 from 8am – 6pm

Items Accepted: Tires on and off the rim, including farm implement, bike, motorcycle, ATV, go-cart, tractor, truck or passenger tires.

Items NOT Accepted: Large OTR, tracks, sheet rubber, solid, calcium, or otherwise filled, and any tire with a bead greater than 1 (3/4) inches.

The Rockcastle County Fiscal Court is pleased to offer a

Free Trash and Bulk Goods Drop-Off Day

 

This event will be held on Saturday April 9th, 2022 from 8am until 3pm (rain or shine) at the Brodhead Fairgrounds.  This event is open to Rockcastle County residents only!  Identification and sign at the gate will be required.

We will be accepting the following items:  household trash, bulk goods (such as couches, chairs, mattresses, etc.), appliances, televisions, computer equipment, etc.

Limited Personnel will be on hand to assist with unloading. 

We will not accept any tires, liquids, brush, clean wood, propane tanks or hazardous materials.  For more information, call the Rockcastle County Solid Waste Office at 606-256-1902.

 

Hello All! The Holidays are past us now and I hope that everyone had a blessed Christmas and New Years. Remember to recycle all of your boxes and wrapping paper! You may be able to recycle some of your Christmas plastics too, if they have a #1 or #2 on them! Remember that reuse is (to Me anyway) the ultimate way to recycle, so, if you have usable stuff that you no longer want or need, pass it on to somebody else!
